Biography / Administrative History
The premise of the 2014 short film "Fleecing Led Zeppelin" is based upon an actual 1973 robbery, in which $200,000--the cash from Zeppelin's final show at Madison Square Garden--was stolen from a Drake Hotel safety deposit box in New York City. The theft made headlines at the time, given its high profile victims, the amount of money involved, and the mysterious circumstances surrounding the case, which was never solved. In Tolliver's fictional account, New York police officer Bobby Turner is cleaning out his recently deceased mother's house, when he finds a bowling bag in the closet, filled with $200,000 in cash. The plot unravels as the past and future of the bag is revealed. Cowritten by Jackie Maw Tolliver and Gabriel Tolliver, and directed by Gabriel Tolliver.
