Biography / Administrative History
John Henry Kendricks (November 18, 1927 – March 2, 2003) was an American rhythm and blues singer and songwriter from Detroit, MI. He joined the Midnighters in 1953 as their lead vocalist and wrote the "Annie" trilogy with them. The Midnighters disbanded in 1967 and Ballard went on to have a successful solo career under the guidance of James Brown. Ballard formed a new version of the Midnighters in 1985 which toured until 2002. Hank Ballard was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
