- Biography / Administrative HistoryThe Byrds were an American rock band that formed in 1964 in Los Angeles, California who built their sound upon the three-part harmonies of Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, and David Crosby. By the time the Byrds recorded the landmark Sweetheart of the Rodeo album in 1968, original members Clark and Crosby had dropped out and country-rock pioneer Gram Parsons had come aboard for a brief but influential stay. McGuinn was the only original member of the four-man lineup that lasted from 1969 to 1972, which included guitarist Clarence White, bassist Skip Battin and drummer Gene Parsons. The Byrds were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.
Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young was a folk-rock supergroup formed by American singer-songwriters David Crosby and Stephen Stills and English singer-songwriter Graham Nash, and Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young. The group was known for its intricate vocal harmonies, political activism, and lasting influence on American music and culture.
Buffalo Springfield was an American supergroup that didn’t exist long enough to be recognized as such but, they were a pivotal rock group with an organic, home-grown musical approach that reverberated beyond the Sixties. The original members of the group were Richie Furay, Dewey Martin, Bruce Palmer, Stephen Stills, and Neil Young. Buffalo Springfield was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. - NotesProcessing Information: Processed by Amanda R. Avery, Intern. Completed August 15, 2019.
