Scope and Contents
The Tom Moffatt Photograph of Eddie Cochran and Frankie Lymon consists of one enlarged black and white photograph dated February 23, 1958. The photograph was taken at the Reverend Hiro Higuchi's church in Pearl City, Oahu, Hawaii prior to a performance at the Conroy Bowl at Schofield Barracks in Oahu. The photograph includes Jerry Capheart (manager of Eddie Cochran), Cochran, Rev. Hiro Higuchi, Frankie Lymon, Tom Moffatt (Hawaiian DJ), and Maxwell T. Cohen (Lymon's attorney).
Biography / Administrative History
Eddie Cochran (October 3, 1938 – April 17, 1960) was an American musician who left his mark as a rock and roll pioneer. He epitomized the sound and style of the 1950s rebel rocker and was an innovative and highly influential guitarist. Cochran was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
Frankie Lymon (September 30, 1942– February 27, 1968), was an American rock and roll and rhythm and blues singer and songwriter. He was best known as the lead singer of the early rock and roll group, the Teenagers. When the group broke up in early 1957, Lymon continued as a solo act. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 as a member of Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers.
