Biography / Administrative History
Jimmy Harris was the rhythm and lead guitarist for Ricky Vac and the Rock-A-Ways. Based in Cleveland Ohio, Ricky Vac and the Rock-a-Ways was formed in 1955 by singer Richard Vaculig, lead guitarist Tommy Esian, drummer Skip Hadden (who was later replaced by Jimmy Gillahan), guitarist John Magyar, pianist Paul Ticherich, and Harris. The Rock-a-Ways were noted for being one of the first mostly white bands to include an African American member (Harris).
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of a 3.5 x 3.5 color snapshot photograph of Jimmy Harris playing the Supro guitar. It is dated 1963.
