- Biography / Administrative HistoryGerald Buffalo Evans was the road manager for the Allman Brothers Band.
The Allman Brothers Band was an American rock band formed in Florida 1969 after several earlier failed efforts by brothers Duane and Gregg Allman. Band members included Duane Allman (guitar), Gregg Allman (vocals, organ), Dickey Betts (lead guitar, vocals), Berry Oakley (bass guitar), Butch Trucks (drums) and Jai Johanny “Jaimoe” Johanson (drums). The Allman Brothers Band sound melded rock with blues, jazz, country, and became known for their live improvisation. The untimely deaths of Duane Allman and Berry Oakley in 1971 and 1972 as well as drugs, alcohol, and personal relationship contributed to the band dissolving and reforming several times in the late seventies and eighties. They reformed in 1989 and continued with a variety of lineups until finally retiring in 2014. The Allman Brothers Band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. - NotesAcquisition Note: The Gerald Buffalo Evans Collection was received by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a gift from Gerald Buffalo Evans on September 12, 1993.
