Biography / Administrative History
Duran Duran is a British new wave and synth-pop band formed in 1978. The group was formed by keyboardist Nick Rhodes and bass guitarist John Taylor, with the later additions of drummer Roger Taylor, guitarist Andy Taylor, and lead singer Simon Le Bon. The group has never disbanded, but the line up has changed several times after the separation of Andy Taylor and Roger Taylor in 1986. The band first started as part of the New Romantic scene, alongside groups like Spandau Ballet. Duran Duran achieved commercial success in the mid-1980s, with a resurgence in popularity in the early 1990s as one of the leading bands utilizing professional music video production, becoming part of the MTV-driven "Second British Invasion." Duran Duran have released 14 studio albums and top songs include "Girls on Film," " Hungry Like the Wolf," "Rio," and "Ordinary World."
