George Rose Photographs

The George Rose Photographs consist of 41 vintage 16x20" silver gelatin prints from the years 1978-1982. Artists of note include Chuck Berry, Grace Jones, Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols, and Bruce Springsteen. Several photographs are of the audiences at various concerts. A majority of the photographs were taken at venues in California or New York. The photographs are arranged alphabetically by artist or subject.

George Rose is a Los Angeles base photojournalist. Rose worked as a staff photographer for the Los Angeles Times in the 1970s and 1980s and was nominated by the times for a Pulitzer prize in 1979 and 1980. His independent work during this time focused primarily on the entertainment industry and his work has been published in Rolling Stone, Newsweek, and Time. Rose's photographs were published as a collection in the 2008 book, Hollywood, Beverly Hills & Other Perversities.

Acquisition Note: The George Rose Photographs were received by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a gift from George Rose on September 1, 2015.
