Scope and Contents
The Matt Stahl Collection is dated 1960 to 1999 and contains undated materials. The collection contains twelve tour books for artists such as the Rolling Stones, the Who, Diana Ross, Alice Cooper, and Eric Clapton. It also contains flyers, newsletters, and magazines on the underground rock and alternative rock band scene, primarily on the East Coast. The collection also includes promotional photos, music books, calendars, and the zine, Conflict! The collection provides insight into East Coast music and underground bands from the 1960s to the 1990s. The Matt Stahl Collection is arranged alphabetically.
Biography / Administrative History
Matt Stahl is a professor of Information and Media Studies in Canada. He received his PhD in Communications from University of California. Stahl’s research and teaching focus on empirical and analytical concerns around media, popular music, music industries, and recording contracts. Matt Stahl was also involved in a three-piece San Francisco Bay Area band in 1988 called Little My.
