Biography / Administrative History
Pete "Mad Daddy" Myers was a disc jockey in Cleveland, Ohio, during the late 1950s and early 1960s, who was famous for his unscripted radio broadcasts. His playlists featured rhythm and blues artists that typically did not receive airplay outside of the South. The shows also featured sound effects, distortion, and other techniques not commonly used in radio. Myers' radio career in Cleveland began in 1957 at WJW, followed by a stint at WHK, where he was banned from the airwaves for 90 days for a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) violation. He later moved to New York City to do a show at WINS, 1963-1965. He passed away in October 1968.
