The Ira Kaplan Collection of Publicity Materials contains promotional photographs and a poster. The photographs feature individual artists and bands active in the late 1970s through 1996. Items were collected during Kaplan's tenure at the Soho Weekly News. Please note that a majority of the photographs are undated. The collection is arranged alphabetically.
Biography / Administrative History
Ira Kaplan was born on January 7, 1957 and graduated from Saint Lawrence College. He is the co-founder, vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter for the American indie rock band Yo La Tengo. Kaplan worked as a music critic for the Soho Weekly News, New York Rocker, and Village Voice.
