Biography / Administrative History
Stewart Copeland is an American musician and composer. Copeland (drums) founded the Police with Sting (lead singer and bass guitarist) and Henry Padovani (replaced by Andy Summers, guitarist) in 1977. After the Police disbanded in 1986, Copeland began a career in composing soundtracks for movies, television, ballets, and opera. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Police in 2003.
Holy Blood and Crescent Moon was an opera written by musician and composer, Stewart Copeland. The opera was commissioned by the Cleveland Opera in 1989. Holy Blood and Crescent Moon's world premiere was in October of 1989 in Cleveland, Ohio.
