Scope and Contents
The R. Todd Richards Collection consists of 88 promotional posters used by record companies for advertising and in-store displays from 1989 to 2007. Performers include Jackson Browne, Eric Clapton, Melissa Etheridge, Fleetwood Mac, Genesis, George Michael, R.E.M., Santana, and Pete Townshend. Many of these posters are double-sided. The posters are listed in the finding aid alphabetically by performer and then by album title; the posters are physically arranged based on size and condition. The poster collection provides a glimpse into how record companies promoted their artists, and the records released during the late-1980s through the 2000s. Seen in a broader context, the collection provides insight to the images and styles used to promote rock and roll music.
The R. Todd Richards Collection also contains one Audio CD of a WBWC radio interview between Todd Richards and Colin Blunstone of The Zombies in which Blunstone reflects on his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
