- Scope and ContentsThe KQRS Collection contains audio reel-to-reel tapes of advertisements played on KQRS radio for upcoming concerts and album releases during disc jockey Shel Danielson's radio shows from 1973 to 1976; two CDs containing digital versions of the taped advertisements; and an early interview with Patti Smith, also on CD. Some of the advertisements have been produced twice for separate audiences: one audience being the more "mainstream" crowd; the second, the "alternative" crowd. The collection provides an example of targeted music marketing from the mid-1970s.
- Biography / Administrative HistoryShel Danielson was a program director, disk jockey, and producer at KQRS radio in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area from 1968 to 1980, and at other stations from 1970 to 1996.
