Scope and Contents
The Mary Ruth Koogler Film and Video contains analog and digital footage of 7 Super8mm films that document primarily local rock concerts or related events from the late 1970s. Artists featured in the footage include Neil Diamond, Fleetwood Mac, Peter Frampton, Kenny Loggins, Sonny and Cher, and Wild Cherry. Some films document Belkin Productions, a concert promotion company, and behind the scenes of concerts. Footage of the 1977 World Series of Rock concert at the Cleveland Stadium includes footage of the Free Clinic of Cleveland. The films were shot by the donor, Mary Ruth Koogler, and digitized by Videodub International in July 2018. World Series of Rock clips were selected for the 2018 Home Movie Day compilation video, created with support from the Ohio History Connection's History Fund.
Biography / Administrative History
Mary Ruth Koogler is a Los Angeles-based producer and voice actor. She was born in Cleveland, OH, and had a close friendship with the Belkin family. She continues to work as a producer and voice actor for various television and radio shows and serves as volunteer coordinator for dog adoption events in the Beverly Hills area.
