The Steve Petryszyn Collection spans the years circa 1950 to 2000, and includes undated material, while the bulk of the collection dates between 1970 and 1990. The Collection contains papers, photographs, audiovisual materials, trading cards, and posters. Much of the material relates to Petryszyn's career as a record collector and founder of Record Roundup. The collection is strong on material related to Cleveland rock and roll history, including Petryszyn's Cleveland rock discography and items related to the Moondog Coronation Ball, Alan Freed, and Record Rendezvous.
Biography / Administrative History
Steve Petryszyn is a noted record collector from Cleveland, Ohio. He and his wife founded Record Roundup, which held more than 40 major record conventions in Ohio during the 1970s and 1980s. Steve has been a contributor to various books on rock and roll history and record collecting price guides. He collaborated with WOIO news investigative reporter Carl Monday to publish the first Cleveland recording discography to feature all the rock recordings from the Cleveland area. Together, they also produced the album Pride Of Cleveland Past to benefit a local charity, which featured songs by Cleveland area artists.
