The Howard Kramer Collection spans the years 1982 to 2006 and consists of tour files, fan club materials, handbills, postcards, press kits, promo photos, clippings, obituaries and tributes, press releases, VHS and Betacam SP videocassette recordings, a poster from Live 8, and four ink jet photo prints by Dave Warrington. Artists of note include: Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Elvis Costello, Crowded House, Perry Farrell, Neill Finn, Bela Fleck, Peter Frampton, G Love and the Special Sauce, Jeffrey Gaines, Gang of Four, Jerry Garcia, the Grateful Dead, David Grisman, the Jesus Lizard, Tommy Keene, Dave Navarro, Pylon, Jonathan Richman, the Rolling Stones, Soul Asylum, the Split Enz, Bruce Springsteen, and Toad the Wet Sprocket. Overall, the Howard Kramer Collection provides insight to the history of rock music from the perspective of a collector and music enthusiast. The titles of the videocassette recordings are taken from the labels. The collection is organized in the order in which it was received.

Howard Kramer is the Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum since 1996.

The condition of some of these materials has not yet been determined for playback purposes and they are, therefore, RESTRICTED. Some of the audiovisual materials in the collection are on defunct media formats and, therefore, are RESTRICTED. Access copies of these materials may have to be created prior to use. Consult the Library and Archives staff in advance of your visit to ensure access to these materials is available.
