Scope and Contents
The Bob Hamilton collection spans the years 1982-2006, and includes some undated material. The collection consists mainly of correspondence, clippings, and promotional items related to Hamilton's Radio Report magazine and New Radio Star website, as well as two copies of the CD-ROM, Heart: 20 Years of Rock and Roll. The collection provides insight to the history of radio programming.
Biography / Administrative History
Bob Hamilton has worked in radio since the 1960s as a disc jockey, program director, and station manager. During the 1970s, he published the <title render="italic">Radio Report</title>, one of the most influential radio industry periodicals of the era. Along with his wife, Pamela, he founded <title render="italic">New Radio Star</title>, one of the first radio-related online services. He has also worked in audio/video production and is a resident of Carmel, California.
Timeline
1960 June: Begins working as a disc jockey on KBEK in Oklahoma.
1970: Begins publishing the <title render="italic">Radio Report</title>.
1974: Sells the <title render="italic">Radio Report</title>.
1983 February 3: <title render="italic">New Radio Star</title> website goes online.
