The Sue Cassidy Clark Collection spans the years 1966 to 1974. The Collection focuses on artists in the San Francisco psychedelic rock scene as well as prominent rock bands of that era. The Collection is mainly comprised of interviews Clark conducted on audiocassettes and their transcripts. Also included in the Collection is biographical research and clippings related to the artists about whom Clark was interviewing and writing, as well as flyers, pamphlets, clippings, and sheet music for bands and artists performing in and around the San Francisco bay area. Artists of note included in the Collection are Jefferson Airplane, Cream, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Doors, Grateful Dead, and the Rolling Stones. Clark's Collection provides a behind-the-scenes look at rock music journalism, and the research and primary source material necessary to the writing process. The Collection is arranged into series by type of material.
Biography / Administrative History
Sue Cassidy Clark is a music journalist and photographer who specializes in rock, soul, and gospel music from the 1960s and 1970s. She is the author of Rock: A World Bold as Love and The Superstars: In Their Own Words. She has contributed articles and record reviews to several periodicals, including Billboard, Black Stars, Creem, Hit Parader, Rolling Stone, Rock, Soul Illustrated, and Soul Sounds.
