- Scope and ContentsThe Heroin Diaries Collection consists of an unbound preview edition of the book The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star by Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx (with Ian Gittins). The book, arranged as a series of diary entries, chronicles the period leading up to Sixx's heroin overdose in 1987.
- Biography / Administrative HistoryFrank Carlton Serafino Ferrana (aka, Nikki Sixx) was born on December 11, 1958, in San Jose, California. After a decade playing with various bands, in 1981 Ferrana changed his name to Nikki Sixx and formed glam rock band Mötley Crüe with guitarist Mick Mars, drummer Tommy Lee, and singer Vince Neil. After the immensely popular Girls! Girls! Girls! (1987) and Dr. Feelgood (1989), the band broke up suddenly in 1992 when Neil left to pursue his own projects. Mötley Crüe reunited for Generation Swine in 1997. Sixx spent most of his career plagued with drug problems, as illustrated in his biography The Heroin Diaries.
