Series II: Audiotapes consists of reel audio recordings of artists signed to Sire Records or a partner label, as well as demos of potential artists. There are many master recordings here, or copies of masters. Titles are based on labels and associated documentation only. A majority of the recordings are 10-inch reels of 1/4-inch tape; other tape sizes, with the number of reels in parentheses, are 2-inch (66), 1-inch (16), and 1/2-inch (23). The recordings are on 1/4-inch tape unless otherwise noted in the title. Some of the tape boxes include log sheets or notes addressed to Stein.

The audiotapes in this series are on defunct media and are, therefore, RESTRICTED. Access copies of these materials will have to be created prior to use. Consult the Library and Archives staff in advance of your visit to ensure access to these materials is available.
