Collection on Carl Gardner

Carl Gardner was born in Tyler, Texas in 1928. One of the original members of The Coasters, Gardner sang numerous hits such as "Yakety Yak," "Charlie Brown," and "Down in Mexico." The Coasters were the first vocal group inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Gardner died of congestive heart failure in June 2011.

The Collection on Carl Gardner consists of one essay titled "An Interview with Carl Gardner of the Coasters," written by the donor Thomas J. Prestopnik, a photograph of Prestopnik with Gardner, and a program and "In Memoriam" card from Gardner's funeral.
