Adam Fields has been a producer of major motion pictures since 1985, when he was executive producer for the film Vision Quest. Fields has been a producer or executive producer on 11 films, including Great Balls of Fire, Money Train, and Donnie Darko. He also wrote the story for Brokedown Palace from 1999.

The Adam Fields Collection on Great Balls of Fire spans the years 1957 and 1986 to 1989, with the bulk of the collection dating between 1988 and 1989. The collection consists of promotional and audiovisual materials, as well as scripts primarily to related the 1989 film Great Balls of Fire about Jerry Lee Lewis. The files contain audiocassettes, a presskit, photographs, posters, programs, prop newspapers, scripts, slides, and videotapes. The collection provides information on the creation and promotion of Great Balls of Fire, with some background material on Lewis.
