Between 1995 and 1998, Ed Rossman hosted an hourly radio program on WENZ-FM in Cleveland, Ohio called "The Website Show." The program focused on how the music industry was adopting the internet to promote artists, and each show was comprised of case studies and associated music. Topics ranged from musical genres and local concerts to search engines and fan websites. The shows were educationally based and loosely arranged around a 15-week workshop Rossman taught at Kent State University's School of Journalism entitled "The Internet and Mass Media" from 1995 - 2003.
Scope and Contents
The Ed Rossman Collection on The Website Show contains materials dated 1995-1998 related to the Cleveland, Ohio radio show "The Website Show." The collection includes audiocassettes of show recordings and transcripts and notes for the episodes. It is a mostly comprehensive look at the history of "The Website Show." The materials provide insight into the Cleveland, Ohio music scene in the late 1990s, the business of running a local radio show, and the feelings around early technology as the show documents the relationship between music and the internet at the time.
Digitized copies of the materials are also available and were included in the donation.
