Prince Paul is an American record producer, disc jockey, and recording artist from Amityville, New York. He gained major recognition for producing "3 Feet High and Rising" (1989), the debut album by De La Soul, which introduced innovative approaches to hip hop production, mixing, and sampling, including the use of comedic skits.

The Prince Paul Production Notebook is dated May 6, 1988. The materials consist of one spiral-bound notebook containing production notes related to De La Soul's debut album, "3 Feet High and Rising." The notebook documents aspects of the creative and technical development of the album and provides insight into the early production process of a recording that was influential in the development of hip hop music.
