Bandstand was an American music performance and dance television program that premiered in March of 1950 the Philadelphia television station WFIL-TV. The show was hosted by Bob Horn and featured short musical films with occasional studio guests. The show was modified in 1952 into a dance program, featuring music performances and dancing teenagers. Dick Clark replaced Horn in 1956 and continued as host until the shows end in 1989. Bandstand was renamed American Bandstand in 1957 when ABC picked up the show for national distribution. Artists that have made their television debut on American Bandstand include Cyndi Lauper, Aretha Franklin, Prince, Jackson 5, and Sonny and Cher.

The Harry S. Coughlin III Collection on Bandstand contains undated materials. The collection consists of 2 membership cards for WFIL-TV Bandstand Club and three black and white photographs (plus the negatives) from the Bandstand set.
