Biography / Administrative History
The T.A.M.I. Show is a concert film from 1964 that featured a number of popular rock and roll and R&B musicians. The concert was filmed at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on October 28 and 29, 1964 and included performances by the Barbarians, Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, James Brown and the Famous Flames, Marvin Gaye, Lesley Gore, Jan and Dean, the Rolling Stones, and the Supremes. When it was released nationally on December 29, 1964, the T.A.M.I. Show was a chance for suburban teenagers everywhere to see acts that characteristically were confined to limited tours, as well as R&B acts that might never appear nearby. It is considered to be one of the seminal events in the production of music films.
